ARE YOU AFRAID OF PROGRESS?

Focused multiethnic professional team

These fears are universal and by that I mean majority of the population has them. Is it normal, so yes you are very normal by feeling these? It is what you do next that makes you different.

So now we have cleared that up what next?
Fear can be your best friend if embraced and used correctly or it can be the thing that takes control of you and your business so you both stay stagnate.
There is a saying that “your are either green and growing or ripe and rotting”…which one are you?

Fear in build into your DNA, into your brain so you can say it is in our makeup and we are wired that way. There are 3 parts of the

brain – the Brainstem, the Midbrain and the Cerebellum. It is the brainstem portion that is our “Flight or Fight”. It is important that we have this as it recognise we are near or approaching danger. Some example are like fire is hot – don’t touch, there is a car coming so don’t walk across the street, its dark and no one is around so don’t walk down that back lane and so on and so on.

If we do something that we have never experienced before like changing how “we have always done things” and perhaps engaging in a new software package then you have no measurable benchmark for the outcome as you have never experienced the process or feeling that go into making this change.

It is in these times that we hear the voices questioning what are we doing? Why change as it’s not broken? Its ok I like the old way and we’ve been doing it for years? You are ok you don’t need to change…and so on and so on…
What you need to is identify that you have this process and push through the fear feeling to ask what is this costing me by not changing? What is this costing my business? Is it money? Is it time? And how much? Can I sustain the way I do thing moving forward? Will I even have a business in the future if I don’t start to embrace some of the suggested changes?

Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause erosion of confidence, and the downward spiral begins – Charles Stanley

We all have a choice’s in life and an important one is that we can react to things or we can respond.

So I put to you next time you have an expert make suggestions to you stop and don’t react but respond by asking the question above and then and only then make the decision.

If you are struggling with not being able to move forward and not sure why. If you have identified that fear of change is holding your business bank in your business and not sure why then please Jacqui for a 30 minute strategy session on 0418 419 722.
